Step 1. Since it is hard to find teabag papers in the United States you can find many preprinted teabag squares in craft books and on the Internet.
Step 2. Using either scissors, paper cutter or craft knife, cut out your teabag squares. Most medallions require either 8 or 16 squares.

Note that there are two sides to each teabag square. There is a design side and a wrong side.

Step 3. (A) Look at your square and see if one corner has an interesting color or design element in it. This is labeled CORNER ONE. This will form the center design of the medallion. (B) Hold that corner with your left hand, design side down.

(C) Lay the square down keeping CORNER ONE to the left, wrong side up.
Step 4. (A) Now fold the lower corner up to the top corner. You will now see the design side on the outside. Make a sharp crease in the fold with a bone folder or your fingernail.
(B) Open the square up. Be sure to keep CORNER ONE to the left. You are now looking at the wrong side. Your fold crease should run across from left to right.
Step 5. Take the lower corner and fold it up to the crease line.
Step 6. Fold the upper corner down to the crease line. It should now look like a kite.
Step 7. Turn you “kite” over. You have finished your first kite!
